On a day when a photo containing seafood and a player was discussed more than any day in possibly NFL history, the Buccaneers have signed their Quarterback to a 4-year, $23.35 Million dollar contract.
“I have to give props to (Bucs director of football administration) Mike Greenberg,’’ Bucs general manager Jason Licht said. “And I have to give props to Jameis’ people. They did a good job yesterday hammering that out. It shows that he wants us as much as we wanted him.’’
The four-year deal includes a fifth-year team option and calls for $16.7 million in guaranteed payouts.
I was happy to get that contract stuff out of the way,’’ Winston said. “Now I can focus on what I’m here for, which to play football.’’
What a seamless transaction. Winston talked about him choosing the number three, and JoeBucsFan.com speculated on what’s coming down the pike for Winston. His first practice comes a week from today at Bucs minicamp.
