Well, our prediction of a one or two-game suspension down from Goodell to Brady was incorrect. Brady will be suspended the first four games of 2015 the league announced today.
The league was careful to note that the punishment was for the violation itself but also the “failure to cooperate in the subsequent investigation,” and that Brady’s suspension was for “conduct detrimental to the integrity of the NFL.”
He will miss games against the Steelers (the opener on Thursday night), Bills, Jaguars, and Cowboys. It’s already been announced that Brady is appealing his suspension.
The league took away the Patriots first round pick in 2016, and fourth round pick in 2017. The punishment was not overly severe; but it was not slight enough to where you would call it a simple ‘slap on the wrist’.
