I like John McClain. He’s been around since the Houston Oilers were in the league. He’s got 10 thoughts before training camp begins in just a few weeks.
One stood out to me.
Watching Watson’s progress.
What we saw during a seven-game, six-start snapshot in his rookie year was captivating. He spent the offseason rehabbing his right knee but participated in the OTAs and minicamp. He was kept out of team drills to protect his knee. By the time camp begins, it will have been nine months since Watson underwent surgery for a torn ACL. He knows the system. Coach Bill O’Brien knows Watson’s strengths and weaknesses. Watson is familiar with his teammates, and they’re familiar with him. As he continues to make progress, one thing will be obvious: The Texans could have the most prolific offense in the NFL.
