Well my team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play on Monday Night Football on ESPN tonight in Charlotte against another team I like a lot, the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are minus Cam Newton this evening, and enter the game as six point favorites.
Both teams are 1-3 and the Buccaneers are desperately in need of a win as today there are rumblings about the safety of Head Coach Dirk Koetter’s job.
More than anything, how about a turnover-free game from Jameis Winston for a change? That would be nice. He’s without Doug Martin and Sims the backup running back with Jacquizz Rodgers getting the start.

Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers are going to Super Bowl 50 to play Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Newton threw for a Carolina playoff record 335 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran for 47 yards and two more scores in an absolute thrashing of the Arizona Cardinals, 49-15.
It was never really a game. The Panthers jumped out to a lead of 17-0 and then it quickly became 34-7 in the second half. Carson Palmer turned the ball over six times and looked to be in pre-retirement.
Cam Newton threw a long touchdown to Philly Brown, and later added one to Devin Funchess in the face of a blitz. One of his better plays of the day was when he bowled over an Arizona defender for the first down deep in Cardinals territory.
The Panthers set a record for points scored in an NFC title game. Luke Kuechly got in the end zone as well on an interception of Palmer to send Newton to the bench and get Derek Anderson into the game.
The Panthers look unstoppable right now and are -4 favorites against the Peyton Manning Broncos in the Super Bowl. I am extremely happy for Cam Newton although this game lacked the sizzle; he clearly has started to cement his legacy in the game. I always knew in my heart Cam Newton had this destiny ahead of him, and he’s one step closer to winning a title.

The Carolina Panthers made sure this season was not in vain. Building a 31-0 lead at halftime, they hung on to beat the Seattle Seahawks in Charlotte; and will host their first ever Conference Championship game this Sunday at 6:40 PM.
Cam Newton went 16 of 22 for 161 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers. He compiled a rating of 108.3, and his touchdown pass to Greg Olsen was one of the better throws of his career.
This will go down as a great memory. I really want to see Carolina get to their first Super Bowl with Rivera and Cam. This Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals is as big as it gets.
A few years ago on a Sunday just like this one, we posted a photo of Cam Newton preparing to play in the biggest game of his life.
A lot has changed since then. Cam is one of, if not the top star in the NFL today. The Panthers have grown up. They are no longer climbing the mountain. They have reached the zenith, and it’s time for them to take the next step. It can go one of two ways today: they can win the game and go on to write the story the way it was meant to be written in NFL lore and history or they can fall short of making a few plays and we can go on to wonder forever what might have been.
If they win today, they are the team that forever goes down as the team that delivered the knockout blow to the Seattle Seahawks and their run of getting to Super Bowls.
I couldn’t love a football player more than I do Cam Newton. He’s always been my guy. I hope he goes out today and plays an error free game that will be remembered forever. I want him to make this one count.
It’s their time.
[Cam Newton Highlights] [Charlotte Observer]
Cam Newton went 21 of 26 for 293 yards and two passing touchdowns to end the season on 35, and two more rushing touchdowns. The Panthers blew away Tampa Bay in Charlotte with the game being a 4:25 PM start time, so it made for a nice little Sunday after watching Tom Coughlin’s presumptive finale in New York earlier in the day with my wife.
Jameis Winston didn’t throw any touchdown passes today, he did rush for one; but he also threw for 325 more yards to eclipse 4,000 on the season. He also got on his teammates after the game, questioning their fire to win.
If this was the last Panthers win of the season, it was such a wonderful regular season. It’s hard to imagine again in his career that Cam Newton and Carolina will string together a season in which they go 15-1, win 14 in a row, and Newton puts up eye-popping numbers that wins him an MVP award.
Newton hit touchdowns to Devin Funchess and Jericho Cotchery on beautiful throws in this game. There’s just no one in the game of football that throws the ball in a prettier fashion than Cam Newton.
Now, Carolina waits for a date with likely either the Seattle Seahawks or; well it’s going to be the Seahawks. A team I fear that will knock them off after disposing of the Minnesota Vikings next week.

Cam at the New Meadowlands. This was the day that Cam Newton proved he was the best player in the entire NFL. No matter how much longer I live, I will remember his day on this day.
Newton is the MVP. One friend said regardless of what happens (after the Panthers blew a 35-7 lead), put Newton’s name on the MVP trophy right now. Another said I wouldn’t be in the fantasy football finals without Cam; but that he is the real deal. This was a friend that doesn’t give props to other athletes easily. There’s not a man alive that could turn his head to this season; to this performance.
He threw for 340 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. He ran for 100 yards on the dot. He put his team on his back and continued his absolutely legendary season for the ages.
This was the game that sealed the MVP for Cam Newton, I believe. A 41-38 shootout win in the dome in New Orleans, throwing for five touchdowns and 331 yards.
Following up the huge win on Thanksgiving day in Dallas, Cam Newton was as good as he’s ever been.
Here are the highlights of Cam today in New Orleans. The Panthers are 12-0. This is just unreal.
